Proclamation
WHEREAS, domestic
harmony means aloha and well-being to those closest to us, especially
children, women and the elderly; and
WHEREAS, an
atmosphere of domestic harmony unites our island ohana and strengthens
and reweaves the fabric of society; and
WHEREAS, domestic
harmony encourages parents, children, elderly and other members
of society to create a better life for themselves and their
communities; and
WHEREAS, the
County of Hawai‘i recognizes that domestic harmony can be cultivated
and grown through education, public awareness, commitment and
the concerted efforts of our entire community; and
WHEREAS, it
is time to strengthen our resolve to work toward harmony and
aloha in our homes, and to recognize that each thought and action
towards more harmony makes a difference,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY KIM, Mayor
of the County of Hawai‘i, do
hereby proclaim November 1, 2008 thru November 30, 2009 as
DOMESTIC HARMONY AWARENESS YEAR AND
A MONTH
the month of November, 2008 and November, 2009
as
DOMESTIC HARMONY AWARENESS MONTH
and November 11, 2008 and November 11, 2009
as
DOMESTIC HARMONY AWARENESS DAY
in the County of Hawai‘i and urge our citizens
to remember that everyone deserves to thrive and live in harmony
and each of us can make a difference.
