Proclamation WHEREAS, domestic harmony means aloha and well-being to those closest to us, especially children, women and the elderly; and WHEREAS, an atmosphere of domestic harmony unites our island ohana and strengthens the fabric of society, and repairs the damage done by domestic violence in our community; and WHEREAS, domestic harmony encourages parents, children, elderly and other members of society to create a better life for themselves and their communities; and WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii recognizes that domestic harmony can be cultivated through education, public awareness, commitment and the concerted efforts of our entire community; and WHEREAS, it is time to strengthen our resolve to work toward harmony and peace in our homes, NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY KIM, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, do hereby proclaim the month of November, 2007, as DOMESTIC HARMONY AWARENESS MONTH and November 11, 2007 as DOMESTIC HARMONY AWARENESS DAY in the County of Hawaii and urge our citizens to remember that everyone deserves to thrive and live in harmony. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused The Seal of the County of Hawaii to be affixed. Done this 2nd day of November, 2007, in Hilo, Hawaii.
