WHY 'THURSDAY' REPORT?

The purpose of this memo is to send timely and, hopefully, useful information of activity on the Big Island. Thursday is picked for several reasons:

- The Administration's Cabinet meets Thursday mornings.
- The County Council meets on Wednesdays.
- Many events happen over the weekend.

Thursday seems like the logical time to send timely information
from these various meetings (as well as other ongoing
activities) and provides for time to plan for the weekend.

If you know of others that may benefit from this memo, please
let us know of their names and e-mail addresses and we are
happy to include them. If you wish to be removed from this
distribution, simply 'Reply' and let us know.

Fireworks ... no permit, no fireworks.
No aerials, no matter what.

Designated times and holidays for general use of fireworks are:

9 pm New year's Eve to 1 am New Year's Day
7 am to 7 pm Chinese New Year's Day
1 pm to 9 pm on the Fourth of July.

AERIAL FIREWORKS DISPLAYS -

KONA-KOHALA COAST IS THE PLACE TO BE:

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

Hapuna Prince

Mauna Lani Hotel

Orchid at Mauna Lani and

Four Seasons Hualalai

are the only Big Island permittees for aerial fireworks displays for New Year's celebrations.

Each permit calls for 'firing' from 11 pm New
Year's Eve to 1 am New Year's Day.
