County of Hawaii Committee on the Status of Women presents the Second Annual *From
Buds to Flowers - featuring a panel of eight ladies from our community as part of National Women’s Health Month. Welcome
and introduction She will speak about fetal alcohol syndrome and the importance of being conscious about what we are passing on through our children. Joining us as co-hostess and on our panel discussion is Diana Lee, humor consultant and performer, who will speak about the importance of humor and following our gifts and passion to perform. Representative Helene Hale – sharing about important issues affecting ladies today, how to help change policy by being involved and how being involved in public life and caring for our community is empowering. She is working on a mentoring program along with office manager Barbara Hale that will invite youth and ladies to O’ahu for hands on experience in the halls of power. Kathleen Amundsen – Community Advocate – from entrepreneur to angel festivals to Standing for the Children Kathleen will share her wisdom and how one person makes a difference by caring and getting involved. Ginny Aste - Bay Clinic Read to Me program volunteer coordinator speaks on the value of literacy in developing self esteem and self sufficiency. Lovey Scott – Garden Administrator, Laulima Puna Community Garden, about gardening for sustainability and tending the aina. Nicki Farnsworth – Entrepreneur and Curves for Women Health Club owner on importance of taking good care of ourselves with exercise, good foods and mental serenity. Piilani Kaawaloa – Hawaiian cultural practices and the importance of being grounded in our culture through dance, music and the ‘aina. Refreshments will be served and there will be entertainment, along with make up Demonstrations and makeovers by Sharona Lomberg. From 4pm to 8pm.
